Unicorn Smoothie

Colorful layers turn a healthy breakfast into a magical treat with this unique fruit smoothie. Adding a fruit skewer is optional.

This recipe includes kid-friendly steps, like adding ingredients to the blender, so you can encourage your little ones to help.

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

1 1⁄2 cups low-fat milk* (divided)

1 1⁄2 cups vanilla low-fat yogurt* (divided)

3 bananas* (divided)

1 cup blackberries or blueberries”, frozen

1 cup mango chunks*, frozen

1 cup raspberries or strawberries*, frozen

star fruit*, kiwi*, mixed berries*, optional, for garnish

 

Instructions

  1. Combine 1/2 cup each of milk and yogurt, 1 banana and blackberries (or blueberries) in a blender. Blend until smooth. Divide mixture among 4 large glasses. Place in freezer. Rinse out blender.
  1. Combine 1/2 cup each of milk and yogurt, 1 banana and mango chunks in blender. Blend until smooth. Divide mixture over the purple layer in the glasses. Return glasses to freezer. Rinse out blender.
  1. Combine remaining 1/2 cup each of milk and yogurt, remaining banana, and raspberries (or strawberries) in blender. Blend until smooth. Divide mixture over the yellow layer in the glasses.
  1. If desired, arrange star fruit slices, kiwi slices, and berries on 4 wooden skewers to garnish each glass.
