Tofu “Ground Meat” Crumbles

Put a plant-based spin on classic ground meats such as beef or turkey. With no
saturated fat and the added benefits of calcium and iron, tofu crumbles resemble
ground meat. Try it as a base for tacos, chili, meaty marinara sauce, or any recipe
that calls for ground beef or ground turkey.
Ingredients
1 package extra firm tofu (14 to 16 ounces)
2 tablespoons less sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (optional)

Directions
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Remove water from tofu.
Add spices, soy sauce, and oil to a large bowl and mix together.
Crumble tofu into the mixture and mix with spices until evenly coated.
Grease a baking tray or line the tray with parchment paper and spread crumbles
onto the tray.
Bake for 20 minutes. For a crispier texture, after the initial cooking time, toss
crumbles and bake for 2 to 5 more minutes.
