‘Tis our most bountiful season! Our local farms are delivering the most gorgeous, delicious, nutritious, produce to brighten our produce department every day. Our gal Dottie displays an arm full of some of the latest additions. Big, beautiful, sweet, white fresh (not cured), organic Walla Walla onions from Bear Roots Farm in Williamstown and Middlesex, VT; organic fennel big enough to fan yourself with and spigarello, an Italian heirloom green similar to broccoli raab and a winner in the sauté pan, from Hurricane Flats Farm, SoRo; and so many different kinds of organic peppers from Luna Bleu Farm, SoRo, including poblanos, jalapenos, carmen red, anaheim (a grilling favorite) and green bell. There isn’t enough room in this post or in Dottie’s basket to mention all the wonderful local (and not) produce overflowing our cooler and shelves. Celebrate the season and relish eating the rainbow!
